You’ve decided–you want a dove release!

A white dove release is the perfect addition to any outdoor ceremony–a wedding, a funeral, a graduation, a birthday, and anniversary, - let your imagination soar. The sky is the limit!

The first thing you need to do is find some white doves.  The best way to do this is to hire a professional white dove release service. This is extremely important.  I receive calls all the time from across the country from people that are misinformed or are trying to save a little money.  But you should NEVER purchase doves at a pet store and release them. There are two types of common white doves: Love Doves and Release Doves. Love Doves are often found in some pet stores, and these are the kind of doves many magicians use. They are very small and make wonderful pets.  However, they are usually very poor fliers. They cannot survive in the wild and have no ability or desire to return home. They should NEVER be released into the wild, because they will not survive.

A reputable dove release company will only the correct type of dove.  These are Release Doves.  They are highly trained and know how to return to their home.   They should never be shipped for a release, and they should be within about 50 miles of their home when they are releasse.   A good rule of thumb is if the release company is more than 2 hours drive away from the release site, it is unlikely the birds will return home.
